What's the Short Version? The Assistant Designer II supports the apparel category cross-functional teams in the areas of design and illustration.
This position requires a passion for interpreting trends to fulfill the specific needs of distinct categories.
They research and create new ideas and concepts through the specific lens of the SanMar consumer.
They collaborative with cross functional team members, providing expertise in illustration, pattern creation and manipulation and more.
What Will You Be Doing? Contribute throughout the seasonal design process from the ground level up; collaborate and assist the Designer and Merchant through research, interpreting market direction, researching seasonal trend, design concepting, illustrating and creating presentation materials.
Provide a critical eye to details & construction translating 3-D apparel pieces into illustrations that are proportionally correct and detail appropriate; illustrations must be clearly interpreted for internal development needs as well as manufacturing vendors.
Actively participate in the Design Process and category product creation; conduct research on current market trends - design, silhouette, trim, fit, fabrication, color, illustration, and presentation.
Be integral in preparation for presentations.
Thoroughly understand and embrace the product creation calendar and work within its constraints to meet all timelines.
Determine and facilitate all illustration needs within set categories.
Create apparel, headwear, bag, accessory, and trim illustrations following SanMar standards of accuracy and attention to detail directly in the computer using Adobe Illustrator and other graphics programs.
Learn and embody SanMar standards for all illustrations and details.
Ensure that construction and proportion are consistent and appropriately represented.
Responsible for the creation of images for use in product media, for use in sales tools, for the creation of original design work, and for use by manufacturing partners.
Create all repeat patterns, textures and prints on textiles and silhouette line art.
Lead efforts in maintaining component libraries.
Maintain tech pack files and associated artwork.
Engage with Supervisor to review and to deliver project status updates within assigned deadlines.
Participate with cross-functional team partners to review relevant images while meeting deadlines with relevant and accurate sketches.
Manage timing of daily and weekly projects and tasks using established project management tools.
What Are We Looking For? 4-6 years of related experience in design, illustration, visual design software in a professional environment.
Excellent command of Adobe CC Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Applications.
Working knowledge of web design tools and languages (HTML, Flash, Dreamweaver).
Mastery of Illustration, organization, and layout skills with clear attention to detail.
Highly collaborative nature and enthusiasm in a creative team environment.
Ability to openly share and learn from others with excitement for learning new ideas and concepts.
Efficiently set priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Flawless organizational and time management skills.
Easily react in a timely manner to frequent changes in project, process or administrative needs.
Advanced knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, fabrications, trims.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desire to make positive artistic contributions.
What's Our Offer? Salary Range:
You ll earn between $24.
50 - $33.
65 on an hourly basis, depending on experience.
Bonus:
You ll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to $2,000.
Paid Time Off:
You ll accrue paid time off on a weekly basis based on hours worked up to 112 hours per year to start.
Employees also receive 7 paid holidays and 1 paid family day off.
